SCHAEBEN

I’m Anna Lorena Schaeben – a German-Italian artist and researcher. My field of research lies in contemporary hispanic literature, while painting is at the core of my artistic practice.

Based in Cologne, I’m currently a PhD candidate and research fellow at the DFG-funded Research Training Group 2661. My perspective is deeply shaped by international experiences living in Japan, Mexico, Colombia, and Bolivia, weaving transdisciplinary thinking into both my academic work and visual art.

Next Event

Ending her Art Residency at Estudio Chapulín in Mexico City, the artist warmly invites everyone to the Open Studio Exhibition on April 25th 2026. between 1pm-5pm. At the Open Studio visitors will be able to follow the process of artistic research practice that has emerged during the residency stay. Produced works including sketches, reflexions and text will be exhibited. There will be a talk about the process of artistic research and the produced knowledge that emerged within the month.

Before the start of the doctoral research semester at UNAM in Mexico City in February 2026, and a art-residency stay afterwards, you were warmly invited to the New Year Vernissage on January 16,2026, at Eupener Str. 70.

Selected works have been exhibited, accompanied by a talk about the pieces and their backgrounds. The vernissage took place on Friday at 6:00 PM.
